Covington, Washington (April 21, 2014) – Attorney Kim E. Hunter, a trusted Tacoma DUI attorney, has renewed her membership with the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD). This will be her tenth year as a member of the organization, which provides advanced training and useful resources to DUI lawyers around the country.
Regarding her more than a decade membership, Ms. Hunter reiterates that continuing education is always necessary to better help clients: “It’s very important to me to continue my education in DUI defense law, stay up to date with the latest legal strategies, and be a member of a professional network of attorneys who take DUI defense very seriously.”
DUI cases are especially complex because they straddle both legal and scientific processes. An attorney must have deft knowledge of legal matters like search and seizure, due process and evidentiary issues, along with an ample understanding of anatomy, biology, chemistry, physiology and toxicology.
Hence, the NCDD holds or co-sponsors at least four legal and scientific seminars each year, where participants learn methods for attacking field sobriety tests, techniques in cross-examining police officers and prosecution experts, and the use of defense expert witnesses, among others lessons.
Atty. Kim E. Hunter, who also has an undergraduate degree in the bio-medical field, has taken advantage of these learning opportunities, and has become a leading DUI attorney in Tacoma and the nearby communities. From 2004-2013, she was named by Super Lawyers Magazine as one of Washington’s “Rising Star” attorneys. She has also been a recipient of the Washington State Bar Association’s Pro Bono Award every year since 2004, and is the Chairperson of the Criminal Law section of the Washington State Bar Association. Aside from taking special interest in DUI cases, Ms. Hunter also handles domestic violence, assault, theft and other criminal defense cases.
