News Flash: Independence Day DUI Patrols Continue this Week Due to Marijuana Stores Opening

Police Officer - Eye CoordinationQ13 Fox reports that intensive DUI emphasis patrols that usually happen around holiday weekends like Independence Day will be extended through this week and coming weekend because of the expected opening of legal retail marijuana stores.  Officers will be closely watching for any driver who appears to be impaired by either alcohol or drugs and they intend to pull over anyone who they believe is inebriated for field sobriety testing.

“The best thing to do this week, well really, anytime you consume alcohol or use cannabis, is to have a designated driver or call a cab or ride sharing service to get you home safely,” says Attorney Kim E. Hunter, a whose South King County law firm has a special interest in DUI defense. “However, if you make a bad choice and decide to drive, and then if you get pulled over and arrested for DUI, you need to get in touch with a competent and experienced DUI attorney like myself. The laws have gotten stricter and of course now have expanded due to legal marijuana, but that also increases the need for law enforcement officers to follow the correct protocols.”

Navigating the legal system after being charged with a DUI in South King County requires working with an attorney who knows the law and knows the system.  Click here to learn more from the Q13 Fox report.
